The Eliminators For 2012

The four above players have to notify the IRTPA by the 18th December they will be entering the eliminators.  On notifying the IRTPA of their participation, they will inform us which is their chosen home court venue.

The first round of eliminators take place on a home and away basis over the best of 3 5 set matches.  The higher ranked player chooses whether to play home or away first.  It is their choice and to date, the choice has always been to play their first five set match at their opponent’s choice of home court.  The advantage here is they will have a possible 2 further 5 set matches on their chosen home court.  The No. 1 player plays the No. 4 player and the No. 2 plays the No. 3.  If one of the player’s declines to enter the eliminators, the highest ranked player progresses automatically to the Final Eliminator.  No other player in the world rankings can take the ‘empty slot’.

The winner of each of these 2 matches then plays in a Final Eliminator, which in 2012 will be at a single venue over the challenge format of the best of 13 sets.  A decision will be taken shortly as to the venue for the Final Eliminator.
