The President and Committee of Sydney Real Tennis Club are delighted to announce the following appointments to the team that will run the new court at the Cheltenham Recreation Club in Sydney. The team will initially comprise a Tennis Professional and a Club Manager.
The Tennis Professional will be Alex Marino-Hume (known as Hume before his recent marriage to Charlotte, since when they have both taken this surname). Alex has had successful stints as a trainee professional, first at Middlesex and latterly as an IiP Trainee at Lord’s, gaining much from his time with Will Burns and Chris Bray and their teams. Alex’s arrival date in Sydney will be subject to the Australian Immigration visa process, but we hope it will enable an overlap with Chris Ronaldson, who returns to Radley at the end of April. CJR will launch tennis at Sydney as soon as the court is playable.
SRTC is very pleased that Sav Cremona, a long-time tennis player, passionate enthusiast for the game and guiding hand during the construction process, will move into the role of Club Manager. By taking this temporary and part-time position, Sav (who will continue as an amateur player) will provide vital continuity of management, as our new Professional settles into the club and life in Australia. Sav has been part of the dedicated team that has worked for years to bring SRTC’s court dream to reality and the club is enormously grateful for his contribution, and that of all the volunteers who have given so generously of their time, energy and patience.Sav, as Club Manager, and Alex, as the club’s first permanent Professional, share our excitement for the start of play at Cheltenham. We look forward to welcoming you as soon as possible, to visit the new court and the rejuvenated Sydney Real Tennis Club.
