The Association’s report was edited in the T&RA’s Annual Report. It has to be assumed this was due to its length rather than content.
One of quite a few edits was the deletion of the report from our Deputy Chairman, Barney Tanfield outlining why America is such an attractive employment market for professionals from around the world to apply for vacancies arising there. Apart from America looking after their professional not only well financially, they also welcome professional representation and input on their committees. Barney Tanfield continues to say:
The professional game in the United States continues to thrive. As the game continues to peak in popularity and usage, so too does the support for professional programming and prize money. The United States Court Tennis Association, The United States Court Tennis Preservation Foundation and the National Fund distribute funds that benefit a plethora of events, benefiting U.S. based pros and foreign professionals alike. The appreciation for the cohort of working professionals is unrivalled and the realignment of labor over the last decade or two perhaps best illustrates professional sentiment.
The generous donors to the National Fund now number over 50, augmenting nearly a dozen professional events. The Preservation not only supports professional expenses in a number of events but also directly supports numerous professional incomes by financing the Player Development Program and various other project management initiatives. The USCTA as always commits a serious percentage of its dues revenue toward the professional events as well as including professional representation throughout its organizational structure.
The impact of the multifaceted approach to aid is that a coalition of like minded altruistic people and organizations creates a partnership that is unrivalled. Professionals run the day-to-day activities at their clubs, take large managerial responsibility in the administration of the game and are included in the governance and broader direction of the future. Amateurs and patrons support the professionals in their craft and benefit from highly motivated and skilled professionals and integrated avenues for success. The future is bright for both.
