The singles world challenge is a biennial event and since 2002 it has been contested every even year. The 2020 challenge between the reigning world champion, Rob Fahey and his challenger Camden Riviere is still outstanding due to the pandemic and will be played in September 2022.
The International World Championship Committee (IWCC) agreed unanimously the best course of action on the holding of this event should alter to uneven years in the future. Rob Fahey and Camden Riviere were both asked whether they would agree now that the winner of the 2022 challenge would defend again one year later. They both agreed.
